We are looking for a candidate who is willing and capable of living in a remote location and in a small community of permanent staff and volunteers. The work is dynamic and not a typical 9 to 5 one may be used to, but extremely rewarding.
Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY) is a Bolivian NGO, made up of a team of committed Bolivian professionals, Bolivian and international volunteers. Founded in 1992, CIWY was the pioneer of the environmental movement in Bolivia and is recognised nationally and internationally for founding centres dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife. CIWY currently manages three Wildlife Custody Centres (Centros de Custodia de Fauna Silvestre): Parque Machia (Cochabamba), Parque Ambue Ari (Santa Cruz) and Parque Jacj Cuisi (north of La Paz). Each Centre offers refuge to wild animals rescued from trafficking, offering them a better quality of life.
You will be responsible for offering technical medical assistance in the care, management and health of the animals in our Centres. You will also responsible for daily tasks such as treatments, medicines, surgeries, laboratory analysis, medicine control, emergency attention and other such tasks.
You will work under the direct supervision of the Park Director and CIWY’s President. You will work in coordination with the person in charge of each area, constantly monitoring the daily work, involving in particular: health, management and capture, management of nutritional and dietary requirements of each species.
As well as applying your technical knowledge to the job, you will also have the opportunity to gain more practical experience in the management and health of wild fauna native to South America. This is a unique experience in which you will be completely involved in the field of medicine and the conservation of wild fauna.

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:
The head veterinarian must commit to a one year contract, working six days per week. Two weeks of vacation is given per year.
You will also need to be flexible in terms of your working hours; you may be required to work nights, weekends, unusual hours or long days. You must also always be available in the case of an emergency.
The salary offered is 2.000 Bolivianos per months.
